Aluminium, AlSi10Mg

Low weight, high strength and good thermal conductivity make aluminium one of the most widely used metals in the world. The alloy used for 3D printing is AlSi10Mg and is a common aluminium alloy for casting and relatively easy to post-process. AlSi10Mg is the lowest cost alloy we offer and is suitable for everything from end products to functional prototypes.

3D printing with Aluminium, AlSi10Mg

AlSi10Mg is a common aluminum alloy in the casting industry, used to manufacture components that require strength, hardness and low weight. Thanks to the high cooling rates during the printing process, the 3D printed aluminum is stiffer than its cast counterpart. 3D printing of AlSi10Mg is widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries, and the parts are easy to machine, polish and heat treat like any other traditionally manufactured aluminum part. Read this article to read about how the mechanical properties of AlSi10Mg are affected at different temperatures.
